Although the woodturning community is changing, I am reminded when I visit other clubs, that like my own club, the membership is predominantly men of a certain age, and therefore significantly effected by prostate cancer. My dad was diagnosed and successfully treated some years ago.

Many of you in the woodturning community will remember Dave Atkinson. Although I couldn't claim to know him well,  last year, one of Dave's last duties for the AWGB was to run a tutor assessment day at our club at which Dave approved me to become an assessor myself. Sadly he lost his battle with prostate cancer a few months later, so by way of giving something back, this year I will be doing the March The Month Challenge to raise money for Prostate cancer UK.
